Good day ...

Well today started out absolutly great!

I volunteer at a nearby nature center, called Lakeside Nature Center in Kansas City, and today I went and did my first rotation with a mentor.

All of the animals have been injured, and it is our jobs to care for them until they can be released back out into the wild

Today, even thought it was my first day and I was clueless, I got to actually do some hands on work rather than stand back and watch. That was kick-ass BTW.

I got to feed a Barred Owl, to tranfser to Kestrel to a clean cage, to move a Mallard Duck into a different room with a water tub for him to swim in, to feed two Red-tailed Hawks, and to help feed a juvenile Bald Eagle.

Here's some information about each of these species, if you are interested.

I go back in two weeks to do another mentor day, and I am already looking forward to it. I hated to leave today when my time was up.
